DORSAL FALLS

Performed by Exploded Ensemble at St Leonard’s Church: June 2017

Dorsal Falls is a site specific piece of music, forming part of my PhD research at the Bartlett School of Architecture UCL. I am exploring spatio-temporal interdependences between architectural space & performed music. The piece appropriates architectural space to behave as an extension of  the sound-producing instruments which inhabit it, and thus in the exploitation of acoustical phenomena in order to influence the composition & execution of the piece. Eg. by using excessive reverberance to construct a harmonic sequence. 3D scanning, digital simulation, interactivity & improvisation form key foci of the work. This project acts as an elastic mediator between the construction of spatial & sonic realms.

Exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts: June – Aug 2016

Exhibited at Harley Gallery: June – Sept 2017
