AMALGAMS FOR HENRY

RELEASED ON NIGHTJAR RECORDS MAY 2025

PREMIERED AT 'SOUND AND SILENCE' AT MAKE SOUTHWEST GALLERY - MAY 2025

‘Amalgams for Henry’ is a duet for piano and ‘resonant bodies’ - creating a series of rich timbral and harmonic amalgams with each strike, where decaying overtones blend and become ambiguous of origin. This idea came in response to composer Henry Brant’s idea of ‘timbral amalgams’ and simulation of ‘bell-like’ tones using instruments other than bells.

Composition written and performed by Emma-Kate Matthews for the ‘Sound and Silence’ exhibition at Make South West, 2025. All resonant bodies designed and made by Emma-Kate Matthews, and exhibited at ‘Sound and Silence’ 2025.
