It’s time for a song. How about this one from pianist Vijay Iyer called “Composites” I saw the Vijay Iyer Trio play a few months ago at the Vortex, with a fantastic supporting set from Richard Fairhurst (who I hear is also a great piano teacher :) I remember being profoundly tired and hungry at the gig – having just finished a 32 hour solid workfest – and therefore not quite in the ideal mood to digest the dense jazzy rays emitting from Iyer’s trio, but in retrospect I think it was a fantastic gig and I recommend that everyone should see him play if you get the opportunity…
